"Great Dreams Require Great
Passion"
COVER LETTER
To Whom It Concerns:
As an experienced technology manager
and business owner, I have years of experience in IT development,
processes, and information management with a number of companies, both
large and small, in diverse industries. The business challenges
encountered in each of these positions required me to fine-tune my
“outside the box” thinking, negotiating, and leadership skills, while
acquiring a variety of management and business development techniques
and knowledge. In today’s business world, the challenge is to remain
current with ever-evolving technology and keep your customer base
satisfied without breaking the budget. I feel I can provide value and
help formulate the solutions your company needs for these and other
challenges if hired for this position.
I have managed IT teams whose
cross-functional roles encompassed the entire spectrum of the Software
Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and have managed teams performing the
SDLC roles separately as well. These roles included Business Analysis,
Program/Project Management, Analysis & Design, Development, Testing
(Unit, QA, and UAT), Implementation, Production Support, and System
Support. From a business perspective, I have led teams that supported
the general ledger, financial reporting, tax, customer data, inventory,
billing, receivables, payables, payroll, and audit processes in both
custom developed and purchased systems using various methodologies.
I spent 10 years at a
large telecommunications company where I managed a large IT development
team of employees and contractors located both domestically (local
& remote) and internationally, with multiple customer/user groups.
I was involved in the successful establishment and training of the
offshore development team. I was the point of contact and lead for all
Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audits, initiatives, and remediation controls.
During my last nine months I worked with the Enterprise Architecture
team helping develop future IT strategies and corporate direction.
I am known for building strong and
lasting relationships with my customers/clients, management, IT teams,
and peers. It is critical in today’s world to build camaraderie, trust,
and loyalty throughout the company. I use a collaborative, “hands on”
people management style, which allows professionals to do their jobs
unimpeded while I maintain the appropriate controls. People are a
company’s greatest asset and I treat them as such. I believe in
empowering, guiding, and helping each individual as they develop and
grow their career, while ensuring the company objectives are met.
My personal strengths are my
character, communication ability, and adaptability. I have and value
good character, integrity, loyalty, trust, morals, and ethics. I
believe my overall IT / business experience and success indicates I
have the talent and abilities to perform this job at the level expected
and qualifies me for this opportunity. I know I can bring value to this
position and fit well within the spirit and culture of your company and
I look forward to discussing this position with you further.
Sincerely,
Dennis L. Davison
